In the Classroom Latest from Ms. Rivera · Oct 5–9

  • Math: Multiplication arrays: drawing rows and columns to show facts, then splitting big arrays into smaller ones.
  • Science: States of matter. Melted ice, boiled water, and watched a balloon grow over warm water.
  • Reading: Book clubs started. Each group picked a novel and assigned roles like Word Finder and Connector.
  • Writing: Personal narratives: one small moment, told slowly, with a strong first line.

Ask your kid about

  • Can you draw 6 × 4 as an array, then split it into two smaller ones?
  • Why did the balloon grow over the warm water?
  • What's your job in book club this week?
At home

Reading log: 20 minutes a night, any book. Sign the log on Fridays.

Math facts: A few minutes of ×2, ×5, and ×10 practice helps. Stop at 15 minutes if it turns into a fight, and send Ms. Rivera a note.

Friday folder: Finished work comes home in the blue folder. Keep the work and send the empty folder back on Monday.
